The closure of the beloved Scoreboard restaurant left many locals disheartened. But now, Rochelle, a former Scoreboard employee, has taken over the establishment with plans to revive the original charm the community cherished. By adding her own unique touches, she’s transforming it into her own vision and reopening it as The Highway Hangout and Eatery!

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Rochelle Starr about her exciting plans for The Highway Hangout and Eatery, the new restaurant she's opening this month. A proud local, Rochelle spent seven years working at the former Scoreboard restaurant, and purchasing the space was a dream come true. Giving her an incredible opportunity to bring her vision to life.
The grand opening, celebrating Rochelle’s hard work and dedication, is set for February 22nd from 12 PM to 11 PM, with live music playing throughout the day. If you're planning to stop by, here’s a glimpse of what you can expect: some beloved classics from the Scoreboard like the famous 18-inch pizzas and jumbo wings will still be on the menu. But Rochelle is also adding her own creative flair with new sandwich inventions exclusive to The Highway Hangout and Eatery.
Featured menu highlights include The Hoosier, a traditional tenderloin sandwich, and The Bama, a chicken sandwich tossed in their signature Alabama white sauce—both coated in their signature breading. You can also look forward to daily specials and a variety of carry-out beer and spirits. Whether you prefer dining in, ordering takeout, or getting it delivered through Grub-Grabber, The Highway Hangout has you covered.
Their hours of operation are:
-Wednesday & Thursday: 4 PM - 10 PM
-Friday: 4 PM - 11 PM
-Saturday: 12 PM - 11 PM
-Sunday: 12 PM - 10 PM
When asked what makes The Highway Hangout stand out from other local dining spots, Rochelle proudly points to their unique atmosphere, welcoming team, and creative twists on classic sandwiches. The restaurant will also be providing 15 to 20 job opportunities with competitive wages, contributing to the local community. Looking ahead, Rochelle plans to host a variety of community events, aiming to create a warm, inviting space where family and friends can come together and hang out.
