Today Byers and Son Farm, a new farm and meat market, had their grand opening in Walton from 8 AM-2 PM. Their store features meat from their family farm located just down the road from the store and fresh products from 16 other vendors local to Indiana.

In an interview with All Indiana, co-owner Noah Byers shared the origins of his family’s farming journey. Inspired by his father and grandfather's lifelong dedication to raising cattle, Noah embraced this passion upon graduating high school. Together, the Byers family envisioned sharing their love of farming with the community. What began as selling produce from a freezer trailer via Facebook has grown into opening a full-fledged market.
The Byers family has worked tirelessly to bring their own grass-fed, grain-finished beef directly from their farm to customers. Their operation ensures freshness by taking cattle from farm to butcher to the coolers of their store. However, the store's offerings extend far beyond their own products, featuring fresh goods from 16 other Indiana vendors, many local to Cass County.
The Byers and Son Farm Store boasts an impressive range of fresh proteins and locally sourced goods. Collaborating with other Indiana businesses, they ensure customers have access to high-quality, diverse products:
-Wild H Acres (Galveston): Supplying lamb meat.
-Miller Poultry (Orland): Providing fresh chicken.
-Fisher Meats (Portland): Offering beef sticks and hot dogs.
Additionally, the store showcases homemade and artisan goods from talented local vendors:
-Denno Backyard Homestead (Logansport): Brittany’s handmade sauces, desserts, cake mixes, and freeze-dried candies.
-The Diamond Whisk (Royal Center): Crystal’s irresistible handmade cinnamon rolls.
-Crystal Springs Creamery (Osceola): Supplying milk, ice cream, butter, and yogurt.
-Coppermoon Coffee (Lafayette): A selection of aromatic coffee roasts and blends.
Bakers, too, will find their match with hand-milled flour from Three16 Bakery (Logansport) or ready-to-eat sourdough bread from Hoosier House of Sourdough. Add some locally harvested, raw honey from the Little Bee Honey House (Logansport) over your bread or baked goods for a perfect touch of sweetness.
The store caters not just to culinary needs but also a unique variety of home and health products:
-Hartleys Harvest: Provides dehydrated mushrooms and mushroom powder that are beneficial to your health.
-Foppers Dog Treats (Logansport): Homemade treats for your furry friends.
-The Carpenter Bee Woodworks: Handcrafted wooden kitchen tools.
-Freebird Farm and Homestead: From scratch tea, vanilla, candy, soaps, lotions, and skincare products.
-Humbly Homemade: Unique bracelets, bookmarks, keychains, and natural car diffusers.
The Byers and Son Farm Store is more than a market, it’s a celebration of community and entrepreneurship. By partnering with local businesses, the Byers family supports the broader community while delivering high-quality products to their customers. The market's hours of operation will be Wednesday through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM.
