Unemployment is up in Cass County and so are home values. What does this mean for the local housing market?

As a local realtor in Logansport, IN, it's crucial for me to stay updated on neighborhood changes and trends. This knowledge is equally important for consumers and local residents who want to understand the housing market in our community. As of November 2024, Cass County's unemployment rate stood at 5.1%, which is 0.3% higher than the prior year. Despite this slight increase in unemployment, home values in the area have remained stable, rising by 3.6% in Cass County and 0.8% in Logansport. The median home value in Cass County went from $163,000 to now approximately $170,000. Overall, the Logansport housing market has seen increases in both sales volume and prices in 2024 compared to the previous year. Looking ahead to 2025, if unemployment stabilizes or improves and housing supply meets demand, we can expect another year of promising sales and housing opportunities. Currently, 62% of residents own their homes while 38% rent. If you’re among the 38%, reach out to me to explore your potential to join the 62%!
